Screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière talks about the problems of adapting Edmond Rostand’s play Cyrano de Bergerac for the screen and discusses some of the challenges he and director Jean-Paul Rappeneau faced during the shooting of the film, starring Gérard Depardieu as the long-nosed hero, in 1990. The interview was filmed in April 2005 at Jean-Claude Carrière’s home in Paris.
