Michael Pabst was born in Germany, in 1941, well after his father made the films he was most famous for – and in the period that would damage the director’s reputation for decades. In addition to operating a successful art gallery in Munich, Michael Pabst has taken both a familial and scholarly interest in his father’s films. This interview was conducted by Robert Fischer for the Criterion Collection in 2006.
