Slow Days: Asta Scheib on »Fear of Fear«
FEAR OF FEAR (1975), Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s searing portrait of a young mother (Margit Carstensen) plagued with feelings of anxiety and depression, was based on a then-unpublished, autobiographical short story by a young writer, Asta Scheib. 47 years later, Robert Fischer visited Ms. Scheib in her Munich home and talked to her about her very own “fear of fear” at the time, as well as her surprise when she learned that famed director Fassbinder, who recognized some of his personal problems in her story, expressed his desire to adapt it for television.
