Edward Dmytryk on the Hollywood Ten
The Hollywood Ten were a group of film professionals who, in 1947, refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities (HUAC) and were subsequently jailed and blacklisted. Director Edward Dmytryk was one of them. In September 1990, in Germany to attend a retrospective of his work, Dmytryk took time to reflect on his controversial personal decisions in a turbulent political era. Unfortunately, the original Beta-SP tapes of that interview did not survive, but a VHS working copy has recently been discovered and preserved.
